A fantasy-steampunk-science-fiction wrought with youth and failure, and how they go hand in hand. Umeon is another world inhabited by monsters and magic. It has a diverse dominant species known as Taothomet. Magic, or heka as it’s known on Umeon, is a large part of life, but technology and alchemy play an equal role, giving—at least the rich and fortunate—people a far more comfortable lifestyle. However, luxuries only go so far when living on a planet where heka alters everyone and almost everything in existence, giving even the dullest and brutal of creatures powers they should not possess. This also creates peculiar peoples and customs, malformed landscapes and warped minds.

While the main story involves the goings-on of a young girl distorted by heka from birth, it is merely a focal centre for everyone else that is linked to her. Umeon is a mental sandbox that was never meant to have only one story focused on one small group of people, but rather an exploration into life on the planet of Umeon as a whole.
